On the 29th October 2014 the process for fitting bodies to trucks changed, under new European Rules, all bodywork and ancillary equipment for trucks over 3.5 tonne (N2 & N3 Category) will have to be Type Approved bringing them in line with 3.5 tonne vehicles (N1 Category). If the bodywork is not fitted by a recognised Type Approved converter, the vehicle will not be able to be registered.
The only alternative to Type Approval is an Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA), the completed vehicle has to be inspected by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) at an authorised test centre before it can be registered and can delay the delivery process by many weeks.
At Martin Williams we have been working closely with the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) for over 2 years and during this time they have subjected our production processes to a Conformity of Production (CoP) review.
Our Conformity of Production (CoP) was renewed early in 2014 allowing us to commence the Type Approval process and we are pleased to confirm that we have now achieved Type Approval for a large number of vehicle manufacturer’s models.
This means we can issue you with a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) for the following Manufacturer’s:
Fiat, Ford, Iveco, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Renault, Vauxhall and Volkswagen
DAF, Isuzu, Iveco, MAN, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi Fuso, Renault, Scania and Volvo
We can build any body type on these, for example curtainsides, box bodies, dropsides, tippers, beavertails and other bespoke body work.
