Our Environmental Commitment & Accreditations

Our Environmental Commitment & Accreditations

Environmental commitment

Environmental sustainability and carbon reduction is an increasingly important factor for many businesses. By choosing Martin Williams (Hull) Ltd for your commercial vehicle services you are also choosing quality workmanship and a positive approach to reduce our impact on the environment.

Biomass boilers

We have installed 2 biomass boilers, complete with a high-pressure water system which directs heat into our workshops through roof mounted fans. Heat is generated by the high temperature clean burning of waste wood from our production process that, would otherwise become landfill waste. We’re also proud of the fact that, in place of LPG gas, some of the heat generated is used in our modern paint spray booths – a policy we initiated, which was a first in the world of commercial vehicle body shops.

Solar energy

During the extension of our workshop in 2016 we took the decision to install solar panels on the new roof. The panels have allowed us to significantly reduce our energy bills and our carbon footprint.

Eco-friendly and biodegradable materials

Our ecologically-friendly spray systems contain no VOCs (volatile organic compounds), toxic metal pigments, solvents or slow-release reagents.

Recycling

We are committed to recycling wherever possible. All our waste is segregated and the vast majority is sent for recycling. We also actively encourage our suppliers to think about the amount of packaging they use when sending materials to us.

Battery systems

We have a proven track record of supplying and fitting carbon reducing battery systems to many trucks. Most recently we have fitted a battery bank system for BT Openreach on their 12t Cable Laying Vehicles that allows the operators to run the equipment solely using the battery power. Previously the vehicles would run with the engine idling for hours with a PTO engaged.

Reduced vehicle movements

Martin Williams is a true “One stop shop”. where a vehicle can come for a body fitting, full paint and livery and be ready to go direct to the customer. We even have manufacturers carrying out the vehicle PDI’s on our site to cut down on time and movements. One movement to us can cut out three or four to other suppliers.

Accreditations

VCA Accredited – approved converter of vehicle bodies.
